Fabbri’s beginnings
Leonardo Fabbri’s career began at just 15 years old, when he won the individual and regional Italian cadet track championship in 2012 in Jesolo. The following year, with his entry into the youth category, he began receiving call-ups to the Italian youth national athletics team, achieving third place in the shot put at the 2013 EYOF in the Netherlands.
The rise in the world of athletics
Fabbri’s rise took place in various national and international events. In 2014, he won three national titles in the youth category and participated in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, where he finished seventh in the shot put. His successes at youth level also include a gold medal at the Under-23 Mediterranean Championships in 2018 and a silver medal at the Under-23 European Championships in 2019.

In 2017, he won his first medal at the Italian absolute indoor championships with a bronze in the shot put. In 2018, he began receiving call-ups to the senior national team and won his first absolute national indoor title. In 2020, he set the Italian indoor record with a throw of 21.59 metres in Stockholm, surpassing the previous record held by Alessandro Andrei. He continued to improve his performances, reaching 21.99 metres in 2020 and setting a new personal record of 22.34 metres at the World Championships in Budapest in 2023, where he won the silver medal.
