Martina Piemonte, an Italian footballer, currently a striker for Everton and a member of the Italian women’s national team, began her journey in professional football thanks to being discovered by Riviera di Romagna scouts in 2012. She made her debut in the Primavera Championship, wearing the yellow-red-blue shirt of Cervia. Her extraordinary qualities earned her promotion to the Serie A first team as early as the 2012-2013 season.
The move to San Zaccaria and success
During the summer transfer market of 2014, Martina signed with San Zaccaria, a Ravenna-based club newly promoted to women’s Serie A, looking for talented players to strengthen the team. Her debut as a starter took place on October 4, 2014, when she also scored her first goal and brace in the top division against Como 2000. Thanks to her 12 goals in 25 matches, Martina contributed to San Zaccaria remaining in Serie A, also winning the play-outs against her former team, Riviera di Romagna.
The experience at AGSM Verona and Champions League debut
In 2016, Martina moved to AGSM Verona after a successful season with San Zaccaria. With Verona, Martina made her debut in the UEFA Women's Champions League, playing a key role in the team under the guidance of Renato Longega. Despite a brief injury period, Martina managed to score 11 league goals and 2 in the Italian Cup, showing her determination and ability also at international level.
The move to Spain and return to Serie A
In 2017, Martina entered the Spanish Primera División with Sevilla, before returning to Italy to play with Roma in 2018. Subsequently, she signed with Betis in 2019, where she played until March 2020, before terminating her contract during the suspension of the championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Success with Fiorentina and Milan
Martina returned to Italy for the 2020-2021 season, signing with Fiorentina, with whom she made her debut by scoring a brace against Riozzese Como in the Italian Cup. In December 2021, she signed with Milan, where she became one of the team’s main protagonists, receiving recognition as the best footballer of the women’s Serie A for the month of February 2023.
The new chapter at Everton and future ambitions
In July 2023, Martina Piemonte began a new chapter in her career, signing with Everton in the English Women’s Super League, becoming the second Italian player to play in the English top division after Aurora Galli.
